A WOMAN from Darwen who went viral following Lancashire Telegraph coverage of her 100th birthday celebrations has been gifted the ultimate present.
Eileen Maher gathered world-wide attention after she put her good health at 100 down to her two favourite treats - Stella Artois and Custard Creams.
This week she was visited by the brewery manager at Inbev who presented her with a certificate and hamper full of goodies.
Eileen was said to be thrilled for the gift, but also took the chance to roundly berate the pair for 'changing the recipe' saying 'it's not a patch on the original'.
Upon her comments, brewery manager Stanislav Chulkov protested that the lager had been made to the same recipe since 1978.
However when you remember that Eileen is 100 years old and that the heritage brew can trace its roots back to 1366, maybe she has a point!
